I got chance to own a bottle of the Bardstown Bourbon Company’s single barrel selection known as “All treats, No tricks.” This was available around Halloween time and I’ve just popped it open recently.

Bottled at 60% ABV and aged for 6 years, this bourbon has a delectable sweetness up front with a spicy follow through and surprisingly mellow finish. Along with this the whiskey is beautifully smooth, especially impressive given the strength.
This bourbon has a real party piece in it’s palette, and that’s it’s unique throat warming sensation I’ve never seen in any other spirit, let alone another bourbon. The warmth experienced when drinking starts very gentle but ramps up over time rather than dissipating, partially due the way it coats your throat as it goes down. This warmth also lasts a lot longer than other spirits for this reason, going on as long as 5 mins in my experience.

This is a bourbon absolutely best drank neat with a whiskey rock or two, you don’t want to compromise this flavour in any way. The perfect bourbon for a special occasion, definitely worth a taste if you get the chance!
